F.A.Q

Frequently - Asked - Questions
**☆ Umbra House is a one woman show & while I try my best to respond to everyone's questions, it is almost impossible for me to keep up with it all... So, I have put together a list of the questions that are asked most frequently, in hopes that this will help you.

➣ How can I contact you about a custom?

{ connect@umbrahouse.art }↤ Drop me an email with general support questions, custom purchase inquiries as well as feedback and experience testimonials. Do you want something, but in a different color? Are you an artist yourself and want to collaborate on a creation?! Do you like my style and want a fully customized and one of a kind piece of art? Please contact me! I enjoy collaborating with other great minds and creatives!!

**☆ I also really love watching unboxing videos, they make me giddy beyond belief, as well as seeing how others choose to display their pieces! So, please tag the umbra house in your social media posts or send in all the pictures/videos and tell me how your experience was! I rely on your input and feedback as it helps me grow as an artist and is greatly appreciated! 🖤

➣ What kind of aftercare does glass art require?

**☆  Remember to handle your glass art with care. No matter how much it seems supported or how strong it looks - glass art is made out of a breakable material and is fragile.

To clean your glass, a simple soft & dry cloth will suffice. If your glass art requires a deeper cleaning, make sure to use a non-ammonia household glass cleanser with a soft cloth and wipe gently. Do not clean stained glass with an abrasive material as it will remove or scratch the patina & finishes on the metal. Never use vinegar, ammonia (e.g., windex) or any acid-based cleanser, as these can destroy the came or solder that is holding the piece together.

The metals and finishes used in stained glass tend to naturally oxidize over time. Every completed piece of glass art from The Umbra House is waxed & polished to slow down this process but this is a natural occurrence that will happen to stained glass no matter what. Some people like this aged look while others may want to keep it looking shiny and new.

Carnauba wax or Renaissance Wax is a great way to put the luster back into your glass art; I  reccomend polishing your glass art every 3-4 months. If you're looking to purchase a bottle of polish, i have kits available for purchase in my shop.

➣ What types of hardware do I use to hang my new glass art?

**☆Glass art can be heavy. Please Remember to do a test hang of something else that is of the same or similar weight before hanging your glass art. DO NOT use suction cups! They always fail. Above everything else, i always reccomend installing a screw hook into something solid and sturdy or installing anchors with screw hooks where needed.

I recommend command hooks over suction cups when hanging glass art on a window. Please be sure to read the packaging for proper installation and BE CONCIOUS, read the label and buy hooks that are appropriate for the weight of your suncatcher. Also, don't forget to check on your hooks from time to time.

**☆ If you live in colder climates where it snows,  remember to change the command sticky strip after each winter.

I can not stress this enough; please do a test hang of something else that is of the same or similar weight before hanging your glass art. I have used a plastic grocery bag with socks and other soft/non-breakable but somewhat weighty things inside to hang from the command hook in order to test its installation before hanging glassart.

I understand that hanging glass art can sometimes be tricky. If you have any questions or need assistance in the installation process, please reach out to me before trying to hang your glass art. I am more than happy to assist.🖤

**☆ Umbra House is not responsible for damages due to improper installation.

➣ Does The Umbra House accept returns?

General returns, exchanges, or cancellations are not accepted at this time; but please contact me if you have any problems with your order.

➣ Does my package come with shipping insurance?

Yes 😁 All parcels are shipped with insurance equal to the purchase value of the items being shipped.

➣ What materials are used in your glass art?

The majority of stained glass in the world is made with materials that contain lead. This is the traditional and most common way of creating stained glass. The use of lead in stained glass causes very minimal risk and is not harmful to handle. It is only harmful if ingested or if the fumes from the soldering process are inhaled, but it's always a good idea to practice good hygiene by washing your hands after handling items with lead as a precaution.

⍟ Glass art pieces completed by The Umbra House are made with 60/40 solder (60% tin, 40% lead).
