I often dream of nothingness. Imagine a realm where your physical body is the only thing that exists in the 3D; no trees, no grass, no other people... just you inside this blackness that never ends. If you have ever played the video game series called Assassin's Creed, then you know the interactive loading screens where you can shoot a bow, use combat movements and run your character around in the vast nothingness.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

For those who might not know the video game series, here is a screen shot of the loading screen that I'm talking about. I should also mention that when i dream, i dream in multiple perspectives at once. So, not only do i see myself from outside of myself in a 3rd person perspective, i also see myself as a first person perspective. Sometimes my perspectives split; when i physically see one perspective, i continue to feel everything from the other perspective.

I started this dream inside this nothingness. I was laying on what felt like cold concrete. I could hear bustling from a somewhat busy street. As i opened my eyes, i realized that i was laying in the middle of a sidewalk while people stepped over me and kept going about their day. I didn't mind or pay any attention to the bustling people. It was like there was a mutual understanding of why i was laying on the side walk, a live and let live feeling.

There was a beautiful pink, green and yellow praying mantis on the sidewalk in front of me. The more I focused on him, the quieter the noise around us became. I never physically spoke a word, though my thoughts were audible in my voice. I said to him, "well, look at you!" My voice echoed softly. The mantis opened his arms wide in a defensive stance. My voice softly echoed again, "i respect your space little one. I've never seen anyone like you. So I'm fascinated by you."

The mantis moved in a circle curiously. I felt like the mantis understood my thoughts and moved in a manner which was playful and physically implied "who me?" I giggled and turned onto my belly so that i could rest my head on my crossed arms. "Yes, you! You're beautiful." My voice echoed again as the mantis cocked his head and quickly fluttered its wings.

My eyes widened with surprise and curiosity, "what was that?" The mantis slowly opened its wings for a full display of vibrant color. My voice echoes softly, "my-gosh!" The mantis playfully moved to show me himself from the side, then continued on in his swirl seemingly enjoying his catwalk moment. "You are so handsome!" My voice softly echoes for the last time.

The moment felt so peaceful and safe that sleep started to overcome me. The mantis ends its twirl facing me and starts to approach me as the feeling of sleep settles in. I watch the mantis approach me through heavy eyes until it is inches away from my face. The mantis reaches out one arm and taps the tip of my nose. I was about to giggle from the cuteness overload, but as quickly as that feeling came, everything vanished and i woke from my dream.

I'm not 100% sure if dreams have meaning, but i like to believe that they do. What do you think about dreams? Are you a lucid dreamer, like me?
